Residence Inn by Marriott Redwood City San Carlos

I was super impressed with this hotel! The rooms and lobby were clean and modern, the amenities were fabulous, and the staff were all super friendly. Location was great - about 15 minutes drive to the airport. Everything you need for a short or long stay - laundry facilities, workout room, pool, complimentary breakfast, full kitchen... it was a great stay!

Our stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Redwood City San Carlos was largely enjoyable, but there were a couple of hiccups during our visit. Firstly, the facility itself was clean and situated in a fantastic area, which made it convenient for exploring the surroundings. My suite was clean and cozy! However, a significant drawback occurred during check-in. One of my colleagues had her reservation unexpectedly canceled without prior notice. The manager explained that they were booked for an event, but canceling a reservation without advance notification is far from ideal. While they arranged for her to stay at another hotel 15 minutes away and offered shuttle service, the lack of communication was a notable inconvenience. Another issue we encountered was the cleanliness of the room. The shower curtain was visibly dirty and covered in mildew, indicating that it hadn't been changed for a considerable period. This oversight in housekeeping was disappointing and detracted from the overall experience. In conclusion, the Residence Inn by Marriott in Redwood City San Carlos has potential, with its cleanliness and location being strong points. However, the miscommunication regarding reservations and the lack of attention to detail in maintaining room cleanliness were disappointments during our stay. Improved customer communication and housekeeping standards would significantly enhance the guest experience.

I stayed here last night and was super disappointed. Upon check in the staff was very friendly but the first room I checked into they gave me the wrong keys and room number. The second room I checked into was being repaired and had the windows open, no linens and fans running. I had to go down to the front desk for a 3rd time. They assured the room would work and they would waive my parking charge $12 and add some Bonvoy points to my room. I got the bill this morning and none of those things happened. Called the front desk and he said he couldn’t help and asked if I knew the name of the person who checked me in. I described her but didn’t get her name. Said he would check with a manager. Still crickets from them. I wouldn’t recommend this place. I spent more time just trying to check in to my room than I did sleeping there. The location is quirky as it’s still a very industrial part of San Carlos.

The rooms were big and clean. My only complaint is that the main lights were controlled by the switches by the door, so even if I wanted to turn on the lights near the bed, I needed to have the kitchen lights on...but the bedside lights still worked so it was just weird. Otherwise, breakfast was decent (classic American breakfast with not too many options) and the lobby and hallways were clean.
